Perhaps contaminated by German culture, and by reminiscent romantic values, the artist tends to translate into images of nature the things that have a mental and cultural provenance even if the result of this process is a shattered image from a representational point of view and, accordingly, a mere rumor of the visible world.

On looking at the pictures of the eight paintings that Jorge Lopes has selected for this exhibition, it is the color that strikes one most. Bright, contrasting, bold; strong. And then, naturally, the inherent gesture, where the stroke is expansive, rapid, intuitive; assertive. Finally, the space, is constructed by successive chromatic layers, by the accumulation of lines, by the erasure or semi-revelation of previous sketches.
